I have been collaborating with individuals, couples, families and groups to help them find solutions for their issues for several decades.
My training has included a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from George Washington University, a Doctorate in the Interdisciplinary Study of the Family from Columbia University, a two year fellowship in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at the Long Island Institute for Mental Health and the completion of four years of study in Family Therapy at the Ackerman Institute for the Family.
My experience has included conducting assessments and providing rehabilitation counseling to the blind and visually handicapped, evaluating and treating youngsters and their families in a psychiatric hospital, administrating psychodiagnostics to children as a School Psychologist and providing counseling for children and their families. I also have seen individuals, couples, families and groups in a licensed psychiatric clinic and have been a co-director of a psychotherapy center.
Currently I provide supervision and training to Marriage and Family Therapy interns and neophyte Family Therapists who are preparing for their state license.
I am licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist, and a Mental Health Counselor in New York and as a Practicing Psychologist in New Jersey. As a Clinical Member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, I also function as an Approved Supervisor. I am qualified to be listed on. the register of Marriage Friendly Therapists ,which recognizes those trained and skilled Marriage Therapists who in their practice embrace marriage as an institution which needs to be preserved and strengthened. I have received recognition as a Diplomate in the American Board of Family Psychology, as well as being on the National Register for Health Providers in Psychology. As a Licensed New York City and New York State School Psychologist, I have been recognized as a Nationally Certified School Psychologist. I am also listed in “Who’s Who in Medicine and Health Care and am a member of Psi Chi, the Psychology Honor Society.
My involvement with professional organizations has included serving on the Executive Boards of the New York Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and the Long Island Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and was President of the latter association. Along with allied professionals, I am a member of State Senator Carl Marcellino’s Mental Health Advisory Board.
My published work have included chapters on “Inhibited Sexual Desire: Toward an Integrative Approach” and “Family Therapy with Bulimia and Obesity” in “Family Therapy-A Systemic-Behavioral Approach by J. Atwood, as well as published book reviews on such diverse subjects as Marital Affairs, Suicidal Behavior, and Group Therapy with Adolescents.
